01
Context
Project carried out as part of an introductory lab on the STM32L476G-DISCO board. The chosen application monitors the conditions of a wine cellar: measuring temperature and humidity, then displaying the values on the board’s LCD screen.
- Measure temperature
- Measure humidity
- Display the values on the LCD screen
- Switch between several display modes using the joystick
02
Hardware and integration
The prototype is built around an STM32L476G-DISCO board paired with a DHT22 sensor, the board’s built-in LCD screen, and its joystick as user input. The DHT22 is connected to a dedicated GPIO pin; a timer produces the delays needed to read it.

03
Operation
The system periodically reads the DHT22’s measurements. The joystick’s center button lets the user manually change the display mode.
- Temperature in Celsius
- Temperature in Fahrenheit
- Relative humidity
04
Embedded development
The project was set up in STM32CubeIDE / STM32CubeMX: clock and GPIO configuration, a timer for micro-delays, DHT22 sensor reading, joystick handling, and LCD display, all brought together in the main loop.
05
Enclosure
An exploratory 3D model proposes a possible way to integrate the board, screen, and sensor into a dedicated enclosure. It is not an industrialized product.

06
Limits
The project remains a short academic prototype.
- No long-term storage of measurements
- No Bluetooth connectivity
- No remote alert system
- No mobile app
- No additional sensors
